A GUIDE TO THE NOMINATION FOR THE AWARD OF HONORARY LIFE MEMBERSHIP OF THE CELEBRANTS ASSOCIATION OF NEW ZEALAND (INC)
The Constitution of The Celebrants Association of New Zealand (Inc) (CANZ) defines types of Membership. Honorary Life Membership is defined at:
"7 MEMBERSHIP
7.7 Honorary Life Members: The Annual General Meeting may elect people to the status of Honorary Life Members."
Guidelines
a) Honorary Life Members are such members of the Association who as a result of being:
Celebrants who have rendered distinguished service to the Association or to the promotion and furtherance of celebrancy are, on the recommendation of the National Executive, elected as honorary members of the Association, by an Annual General Meeting of the Association.
b) An honorary member shall enjoy the rights of a senior member of the Association, and shall not be required to pay the fee for that membership.
c) Honorary Membership shall be restricted to five (5) members at any one time.
Honorary Life Membership is the most prestigious award available to the Association. The nomination and award should be given careful consideration.
Honorary Life Membership
Honorary Life Membership is a special form of membership which may be bestowed upon any person whose service to the organisation of CANZ is agreed to have been sufficiently meritorious. Nominations for Life Membership, together with an appropriate support statement specifically detailing the nominee's involvement within the organisation of CANZ, and contributions to it, must be submitted in writing to the CANZ National Executive at least six (6) weeks prior to the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Association. A member of the Association must make the nomination, and the seconder must be a CANZ member.
Nomination
The nomination must be made on the form included with this guide. All relevant sections must be completed and no other form of nomination shall be acceptable. This nomination will form the basis of the citation to be awarded with the symbol of Life Membership as determined from time to time.
CANZ process
Upon receipt of any nomination(s) for this award, the President of CANZ shall, as provided for in the Constitution and Guidelines above, refer the nomination(s) to the National Executive.
The Committee shall consider the merit of the nomination(s) against the criteria, and make its recommendation to the AGM for the award of the Honorary Life Membership.
Symbol of Award
The symbol of this award shall be.......................and the Citation in a form suitable for framing, which will be presented to approved recipients at a ceremony determined by the National Executive of CANZ.
Guide to Nomination Criteria
Honorary Life Membership may be recommended for any highly meritorious contribution to the Association. The following do not attempt to be exhaustive, but rather to give ideas and scope to the types of contribution that could be rewarded:
- The nominee has made a significant contribution to the organisation (CANZ) over a period of ten years
- The nominee has demonstrated significant leadership, the promotion of the Association, and impacted positively on the way Celebrancy is perceived.

Nominations are confidential to the National Executive and the decision of the Committee is final.
The nomination must be received by the National Secretary no later than six weeks prior to the Annual General Meeting.
