A few years ago, I moved to rural Japan to work as an English teacher. My apartment had been occupied over the years by foregoing teachers, and had cupboards upon cupboards of collected treasures. On one particularly exploratory afternoon, I came across a beautifully preserved set of clergy robes which I promptly tried on for size. My recently engaged sister spotted a photo and asked the possibility of my officiating her wedding. I took on the challenge with feelings of excitement tinged with minor apprehension.
One year later, I married my sister. … wait… I married my sister to her husband.
The supervision of my sister’s wedding was deemed very pleasing to all those involved, thus, in the months that followed, requests for my celebrant services began. From my best friend to a lovely elderly woman that picked me up during a hitchhike, they came in with enough flow and conviction that I decided to give the celebrancy profession, a serious go.
I have oodles of experience speaking in front of crowds, through my teaching in Japan and as a scuba diving instructor in Rarotonga. I have been described as a “unique individual” and it is entirely up to you how much of this uniqueness is presented in the ceremony.
What's included in my services:
