I am a Wellington-based wedding and funeral celebrant, although I do travel to other areas. Whatever kind of ceremony I am helping create, and however diverse the people I am working with, my goal is always the same. That is to reflect the real lives, loves, and stories of those people. Although I’ve been a celebrant since 1996, I have never lost that excitement as I meet my new clients, learning their stories, and helping them create the ceremony that best suits them.
I bring to this my skills from other areas of my work life – as a writer, MC, keynote speaker and actor. I am able to weave together my clients’ own words, together with readings, and other elements, to write a unique ceremony. I then officiate at the ceremony with warmth and confidence, ensuring everyone is able to feel safe, and as relaxed as possible.
Helping people create ceremonies at times of great joy and of great sorrow is a privilege, and so it is important to me that I get the right tone and feel every time.
I have published two collections of readings for ceremonies – Heartsongs and Lifesongs (Random House). Although they are now out of print, I am working on my next collections.
In 2004 I became a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM).
