Celebrant since 2015

Hi, my name is Raewyn Alexander and I am based in Dunedin. I am married to Rob and have 3 adult sons, twins who are married and their younger brother who has Down Syndrome. I am a very proud and recent grandmother of a baby girl. I have been involved in Education for the past 47 years, the last 12 as a Principal in Special Education. I am looking forward to retirement later this year as I will then be able to devote more time to my work as a JP and a Celebrant.

As a Celebrant I am happy to perform all types of services offered under the celebrancy umbrella. This includes weddings, baby naming's, civil ceremonies, vow renewals, blessings and funerals.

My work to date has been weddings, including single sex weddings. I believe in making a service personal and reflective of a couple’s needs and wishes. Regular meetings and contact before a ceremony is important for me to get to know a couple and to be able to reflect their personalities and their dreams on their big day.

I am looking forward to being involved in funeral celebrancy when I retire. Time does not allow this at present as I believe I must give my full attention to a grieving family and not be constrained by time and other work demands.

I prefer to work within the greater Dunedin area including North and South Otago. I never perform more than one ceremony a day as it is important to me that I give my full attention to one couple on their special day. I am able to provide, at no extra cost, a portable sound system for use at a ceremony. I am passionate about my work as a Celebrant and find that performing a wedding ceremony is such a joyful and exciting experience, and knowing that you have got it ‘just right’ is really uplifting and reaffirming.
