The Celebrants Association of New Zealand (CANZ) provides access to professional celebrants with a commitment to quality service, professional standards and ethics.
We pride ourselves on offering creative and innovative ceremonies for all occasions, including weddings, funerals, name giving, civil unions, business and community events, family occasions and rites of passage, and catering to a wide range of nationalities, cultural and spiritual beliefs.

You can find a celebrant near you by using the green-gold search box at the top right of every page and searching by region or ceremony type. Alternatively, if you are seeking a particular celebrant you have used before, or who has been recommended to you, click on the Celebrants A - Z button at the top of each page, and search by surname.
Visiting from Overseas for a Wedding or Civil Union?
If you are visiting from overseas, New Zealand is a beautiful scenic destination, and many couples choose this as an ideal location for their wedding or civil union, or a romantic opportunity for a renewal of their vows. Members of the Celebrants Association of NZ can assist overseas couples with planning and organising their ceremony.

Want to Become a Member of CANZ?
If you already practice as a celebrant for any type of ceremony, we urge you to become a member of CANZ. As an organisation, we are promoting the role of celebrants and the vital service they can provide in contemporary NZ society. Some sectors of the wider public have a very limited understanding of ceremony and ritual, and we are taking steps to remedy this. Clearly there is strength in numbers and we would welcome your involvement in helping to raise awareness of contemporary celebrancy and becoming part of a vibrant professional association. To join us click on the "Join CANZ" tab at the top of the page, complete the details on the Membership application form and press ‘Submit'. You will be contacted by the member of our Executive Committee who holds the Membership portfolio.
As President, I bring to my role a very clear vision of the contribution celebrants make in helping individuals, families, organisations and society articulate what matters most in their lives. As Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. reputedly said, "The things that matter most must never be at the mercy of things that matter least". Celebrants are at the forefront of this endeavour!
